A Mystery for Christmas - The Family Game

Still looking for the perfect read this Holiday season? Look no further than Catherine Steadman's The Family Game. This thrilling read actually takes place at Christmas time and counts down to the big day as Harriet Reed races to survive her future husband's family and their crazy cat-and-mouse game.

Summary: Harriet Reed, a novelist on the brink of literary stardom, is newly engaged to Edward Holbeck, the heir of a powerful family. And though Edward has long tried to sever ties with them, news of the couple's imminent marital bliss has the Holbecks inching back into their lives.

As Harriet is drawn into their lavish world, the family seems perfectly welcoming. However, things get weird when Edward's father Robert cryptically hands her a tape of a book he's working on. But when she presses PLAY, it's clear that this isn't a novel....but rather a confession to a grisly crime. What is the Holbeck clan playing at here? Harriet races to figure it out as things just get weirder and the clock ticks down to the family Christmas.

Review: I found myself absolutely racing through this book - I couldn't keep turning pages fast enough - and I was obsessed with figuring out this creative cat-and-mouse game before time ran out! When Harriet meets Edward's family, it's clear that nothing is quite what it seems but as the story unravels, and Harriet digs deeper and deeper into the family's web of secrets, I was absolutely holding my breath!

As an added bonus, I highly recommend the audiobook narrated by the author herself! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
